Class Sessions
Intro and Materials
5:02
There are so many options for what you embroider with, and what to embroider on! I will go into more detail as we go through the class but in this session, we will cover the basics.
Duplicate Stitch
17:36
Duplicate stitch tells you what it is in its name! You will use a needle and yarn to duplicate an existing knit stitch in a different color to add an embroidered pattern. This is also a great trick to learn if you have knit a colorwork project and find a small error, you can use duplicate stitch instead of ripping back.
Common Embroidery Stitches
32:44
There is an endless variety of stitches you can use to embroider your knits, in this session we will go over some basic stitches, so you have a firm foundation for your project. These stitches include chain stitch, satin stitch, running stitch, back stitch, lazy daisy, and spiderweb.
Working with Stabilizers
15:03
I don’t always use stabilizers on knitwear, but there are some great options if you need to have your embroidery design pre-drawn and you are not going to freehand. In this session we will have some great tips on working with wash away stabilizers, so you don’t wind up with a sticky mess!
Embroidering on Knits
13:07
Now that we have learned some stitches and some options for preparation, let’s actually embroider on our knits!
Monogramming with Chain Stitch
12:03
If your social media is anything like mine, you see tons of creators chain stitching words or monograms on both hand knit and commercial sweaters. Here are some great tips for chain stitching, both with a tapestry needle and with a crochet hook.
