Double decreases come up in all sorts of knitting patterns but frequently in mitered square projects and bottom-up raglan sweaters. Most of these patterns are written with the designer’s preferred method of double decrease, but there are options available if you prefer a different look or are designing a piece on you own.

In this video we will take a look at the sk2p which is worked over 3 stitches, a paired ssk and k2tog which is worked over 4 stitches, and a paired decrease with a central column of stitches which is worked over 5 stitches. Compare the methods and pick the one that works best for your project. If you are interested in additional information on modular knitting, included both mitered squares and scallops, check out this class called Master Modular Knitting.
