Quick Tip: What Happens If You Lose All the Stitches?
Mary Beth TempleEvery knitter's nightmare - when you have accidentally pulled the needle out of your whole project! Using a smaller needle than your project needle if you have access to one is a great way to give yourself some more room to maneuver.
Try to grab each stitch and get it up onto your needle with its right leg forward, but when push comes to shove, picking up the stitch before it drops is more important. If you have to you can re-seat a backwards stitch when you come to it while you are knitting.
Sometimes you have to pay special attention to your edge stitches - this video by expert Ann Budd has some great tips.
Hi, I'm Mary Beth Temple and I'm going to show you every knitter's worst nightmare. You're pulling your project out of your bag and you have accidentally taken the needle out and you are faced with a plethora of loose stitches. So, what is the best way to salvage this problem if you have a knitting needle, that's a little smaller than the one that you were using for your project? That's a great way to get started. It gives you a little more room to maneuver, but you could use your project needle.
So what you want to do is grab each one of these stitches and you want to come now in stock in that stitch, you're going from the back to the front, but you wanna make sure if you can that the right leg of the stitch is facing forward so you can move it in the next row. Now I'm going along, I'm being very careful and what happens it gets really, really hard to get and I'm here to tell you, ignore what I said previously. If you have to grab it, whatever way you can, you can go back after you've picked up all your stitches and reorganize them on the needles. So the right leg is facing forward all the time or when you're knitting your row and you come to a stitch that has the left leg forward, instead of the right in that stitch in that stitch only just knit through the back loop and it'll straighten itself out.
