3 Easy Stitch Patterns for Dishcloths
Jen LucasKnitted dishcloths are a great way to try out new stitch patterns without the big time and yarn commitment of a larger project. Just grab that dishcloth cotton and try some of these easy stitch patterns for dishcloths with knitting designer Jen Lucas.
CARTRIDGE BELT RIB
This stitch pattern is worked over a multiple of a multiple of 4 plus 3 stitches.
Using worsted-weight dishcloth cotton yarn and appropriately-sized needles (needle size listed on
yarn label), cast on the following number of stitches for the item you would like to make:
Make-Up Remover – 15 sts
Coaster – 19 sts
Dishcloth – 39 sts
Row 1 (RS): K3, *sl1 wyif, k3; rep from * to end.
Row 2 (WS): *K1, sl1 wyif, k2; rep from * to last 3 sts, k1, sl1 wyif, k1.
Rep Rows 1 & 2 until piece is a square (the length is approximately the same as the width), ending
on Row 2.
GARTER RIB STITCH PATTERN
This stitch pattern is worked over a multiple of 4 plus 2 stitches.
Using worsted-weight dishcloth cotton yarn and appropriately-sized needles (needle size listed
on yarn label), cast on the following number of stitches for the item you would like to make:
Make-Up Remover – 14 sts
Coaster – 18 sts
Dishcloth – 38 sts
Row 1 (RS): *P2, k2; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 2 (WS): Purl all sts.
Rep Rows 1 & 2 until piece is a square (the length is approximately the same as the width), ending on Row 2.
INTERRUPTED RIB STITCH PATTERN
This stitch pattern is worked over a multiple of 4 plus 2 stitches.
Using worsted-weight dishcloth cotton yarn and appropriately-sized needles (needle size listed
on yarn label), cast on the following number of stitches for the item you would like to make:
Make-Up Remover – 14 sts
Coaster – 22 sts
Dishcloth – 42 sts
Row 1 (RS): *P2, k2; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2.
Row 2 (WS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 3: Knit all sts.
Row 4: Purl all sts.
Rep Rows 1 – 4 until piece is a square (the length is approximately the same as the width), ending on
Row 1.
